Great Silence seems to glow softly from the center. In the heat of summer, those petals lean into warm corals and peaches, then shift toward richer rose tones as the air cools in fall. It’s graceful and subtle, never dull.

One of the things I love most is how the color changes with light. If you’re finding it too bold in full sun, a little shade from bud to bloom can quietly soften those tones, makes her a designer favorite for weddings or simple, elegant arrangements.

Plant her in full sun with good soil and regular water, and in our patch she’s clocked in at a solid 4 feet tall,strong stems that hold up heavy blooms without needing a ton of staking. Blooms run 4 to 6 inches across, just the right size to stand out in the garden or in your vase.

Bloom season stretches from mid-summer right through to frost, and she stays generous if you deadhead regularly. In colder zones, dig and store the tubers over winter, but in zones 8 and above with decent drainage, she’ll often come back on her own.
